El president del Comitè Olímpic Nacional Italià (CONI), Giovanni Malagó, va demanar aquest dissabte cancel·lar tots els esdeveniments esportius previstos a les zones afectades pel coronavirus, que ha provocat dos morts a les regions de la Llombardia i el Vèneto. «Si hi ha competicions de qualsevol nivell en zones on hi ha aquests casos, no hi podrà haver esport. És molt simple», va afirmar Malagó en declaracions als mitjans italians.

La Sèrie C, la tercera categoria del futbol italià, va decidir ajornar el duel Piacenza-Sambenedettese i tampoc es disputarà el duel entre el Mantova i el Fanfulla, corresponent a la Sèrie D, la quarta categoria. Són els partits de futbol més destacats que han sigut ajornats les últimes hores, a més de molts altres corresponents a les categories menors i juvenils de la Llombardia i el Vèneto.
